small room and bathroom which were tatty up close. overpriced or should be 2*. Other colleagues had better experiences - perhaps it was just my room.(no 132 I think) pleasant staff.

There is no lift and you have to carry your luggage to your room. In our case it was about 60 stairs, but we arrived at 6am so perhaps the staff had not check in.

Top Tip
There was an air strike on our visit. We landed in Bologna and came in by train - hence our early arrival. So little time to sightsee before moving on.

A twin room had been booked and guaranteed. When we arrived we were slightly surprised and disappointed to be shown to an exceptionally small and very dark single room with additional put-you-up squeezed in. Cat swinging was never going to be on the agenda! We took this up with the hotel; the staff were excellent and handled the situation extremely well. They promised and delivered a much better room for the second night. All ended well - but if the first option is an example of the rooms on offer better to manage client expectations.Had our room not have been changed our experience would have been very different. Other comments - the hotel rooms (both) were extremely hot. The beds in the second larger room were tiny! Worth telling people in advance that a) there are lots of stairs and b) that the hotel is spread across different buildings. Breakfast arrangements were excellent. Location excellent.

Very good value Chinese restaurant in Campo S Fililppo e Giacomo, also great bar on corner of Calle delle Rasse opposite Bar Vert.

Ideally placed near St Marks Square the LUx offers a good basic service at a reasonable price. Staff were helpful although I had to fix a minor problem with the shower myself.

Top Tip
Be careful on any free offers to visit Murano glass blowing factories. You are taken in by water taxi to the back of the factory and pressurised to buy some glass wiothout comparting it with other companies offers. Don't buy without looking around and comparing prices.
